Niceville, FL - Fort Walton Beach Medical Center and Twin Cities Hospital recently introduced SurgiTrak™, a convenient new service that allows pre-surgery patients to identify ahead of time which family members and friends they would like to receive text messages or e-mails about their status as they move through pre-op to recovery. SurgiTrak messages can be sent to any mobile device, such as a smart phone, tablet, or any computer or laptop with an internet connection.
“SurgiTrak is completely HIPAA compliant, meaning that the patient’s privacy is fully protected,” said David Whalen, CEO of Twin Cities Hospital. “SurgiTrak messages contain no personal information, such as name, type of surgery, etc.; instead, the messages contain only surgery status updates, such as ‘Patient in Pre-Op,’ ‘Patient in Operating Room,’ or ‘Patient in Recovery.’”
Patients who will be undergoing surgery at either Fort Walton Beach Medical Center or Twin Cities Hospital will have the choice to receive a SurgiTrak invitation that can be emailed to them within a week of their scheduled surgery. The e-mail will contain a link to an enrollment form that they can use to enter the mobile phone numbers and/or e-mail addresses of those family members and friends they would like to receive updates about their surgery status. This technology will allow pre-designated individuals to receive updates no matter where they are. And, it will give family members and friends who are waiting at the hospital the freedom to leave the waiting area without the worry of missing important updates.
“We are pleased to offer this exciting new service to our surgery patients,” said Mitch Mongell, CEO of Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. ”Part of our commitment to providing excellent healthcare services to the communities we serve is offering the latest technology to help ensure an extraordinary patient experience for both the patient and their loved ones. SurgiTrak is an excellent example of how we are accomplishing that goal.”
To sign up, patients just tell a registration representative they want to enroll in SurgiTrak and give their e-mail address so the invitation can be sent. The enrollment will only be used for that particular surgery.
